Brand new facility

My Mother is very happy here. It is a brand new facility and she seems to enjoy the activities and get-togethers they have. They have a lot of happy hours and they are thinking about going to the ice capades soon. The staff is good and the food is good too. However, the only meal they serve is breakfast. I would give them a higher score but I feel like they opened this community to the residents before everything was up and running. The pool still isn’t heated up and the Netflix room isn’t working yet. I would recommend this facility to other families.

A good home for me.

This is a nice community for me. I am happy with the staff and the assistance they give. It is a clean and nice enviroment for me. They offer a large amount of activities to stay active. There are changes here that have been done since I have moved in. I would recommmend care for other families for the care and value.

What You Expect For Value

I live on the west side and the wind blows a lot and the building is a little old. The elevators are not that clean either, I think they can do better. People don't always pick up after their dogs too. For the value, it is about what you expect though.

Stay Away Until New Management Shakes Out

The community was sold quickly after my loved one moved in. The fees are expensive due to the benefits they used to offer and now they don't and haven't reduced the rent. The community is beautiful. The management is in a tailspin, since the new owners took over. There are more people moving out due to the changes. They have covered parking for the residents.

I would not recommend

We chose Larkspur at Twin Creeks because of the affordability and the larger room sizes. The bathrooms were too dark in the facility, you had to have a light to go in. We were right next to a hotel so there was quite a bit of noise. There were also lots of people outside the facility that did not belong there. The best part about Larkspur was that we made some good friends. It seemed more like a hotel here than a living facility.

Building Issues

On [date removed], Benbrook experienced a electrical storm that greatly impacted the safety and security of the Album Benbrook residents, namely safety doors not locking, fire doors inoperable, and rendereing 2 of 3 elevators inoperable. The most impactful for me is lack of elevator access on my side of the complex, whereas I must walk to another building to take the elevator down from my 2nd floor apartment . I have had two surgeries during this period and if not for the compassion of other residents I would have had to walk in the after-effects of anesthesia from one building to the other to get to and from my apt. I don’t place responsibility on Greystar for damage to the building or services. What is Greystar’s responsibility is how they have handled repairs. 5 weeks of "Waiting for parts" is not a legitimate response for the senior residents who depend on these services. Besides the supposed assurances of safety and convenience in this complex, I feel I am no longer afforded what I

Ownership and Management Company are a mess

A family member is currently a resident. The property was recently built with fantastic amenities including restaurants in the building. However, the ownership group changed with one partner dropping out and a new management company taking over. Ownership (South Bay Partners) and the management company (Greystar) are big names in multifamily housing and management. Why they cannot get this building leased-up after a year and a half, why they cannot keep the current tenants apprised of what they are doing to provide the promised amenities but rather ignore them, is beyond me. When I heard Greystar was coming in I thought it was good news. Instead, they still have an empty building with the few tenants left in the dark.

Community Tour

We thought Album Keller Ranch looked like a good place. They took our application deposit and then declined my loved one on the same day. However, it took three months for them to get my deposit back to me. In the end it was probably for the best. The staff was nice, and the facility was brand new, but it almost seemed intimidating. It didn't have the warmer, more homey feeling of the place we ended up at.

Hallways are long, devoid of people, cavernous feeling. Pool minuscule... could never swim laps. Could be a major fire hazard getting to exits. WAY too expensive for me... I prefer to have time alone, only socialize occasionally. Definitely not worth the money to me.

Overture Crabtree review

Overall the community is kept pretty clean, things seem to be in order. However, when i moved into my apartment it had not been clean yet, it was pretty dirty. I think its pretty over priced, and you do not get anywhere near what you should get with the money that is spent. Since COVID there have been barely any activities. They closed the gym and beauty salon. There is no more physical therapy either. In the last month or so they have started to try and get some activities back. The custodian quite a few times entered my apartment without permission which made me very uncomfortable since i am more susceptible to getting COVID. I was told before i moved in, if i needed help with anything i could get help from the custodian, but there would be times he would take days to help me out or sometimes never.

Review of Destinations Lynnwood

Moved in new SHAG [date removed] - no income cap and 20% of apts subsidized and with SHAG. On [date removed] one week notice that Overture bought building and transfer was [date removed]. For a month temps ran the place, no communication from Destinations or Graystar management. All previous vendors let go by new manager and she lasted about 3 months. Building not kept clean - hallways vacuumed only once a month. Windows have never been cleaned since built. Rents have been raised without once included now are charged for. A lot of residents moving out. No confidence that Graystar, Overture, Carlyle Group know how to run this place. 80% of us are praying market rate rents and wonder where this is heading.

Supposed to be senior community; however, tenants have family living in units. Management does not enforce community rules. Kids, young adults come and go at all hours. Tenant parking not enforced. Families living in tenants take up spaces allocated for tenants. Not a "true" senior community.

Having second thoughts

Have lived here 10 months. Lots of turnover among staff/management. Swimming pool has been closed since July 13...lots of excuses from management but no resolution and no sign it will reopen any time soon. Totally unacceptable as this is one of the few 'amenities' I take advantage of.

Beware

My parents wanted a place to retire and live comfortably. Little did they know the rent would increase heavily after a year and promises of new carpet and new appliances would be installed at a later time. The new carpet never happened and if your wanted new appliances then your rent would increase heavily. Even if you don't get new appliances, every year the rent increases-at least by $50. Now for someone on social security that is a hefty increase. The management will tell you no the rates don't increase by much but it does. My parents could not continue to afford to pay more money every year so they gave notice and had to pay their last months rent. Now a few months later they have a collections notice for the last months rent and for damage to the carpet which the company had advised was brand new, which it wasn't. My parents didn't even get a phone call or a bill from Destinations at Alexander-just a collections notice. They advised my parents the brand new carpet which was replaced was now damaged. New carpet, that never happened. How can a senior living community take advantage of the elderly. My father is 78, really come on Destinations at Alexander. So before you consider living there, do your homework and talk to some of the residents. They will tell you the truth. There is so much turnover at this community it is so sad. The management is horrible. It's all about money and not taking care of senior citizen residents. My parents would even volunteer with activities and any help needed at the community, and this is how they are treated. Please beware. I am just trying to let you know it is now what it seems on their website.

Not Trustable

The Manager team make your credit ruin after you leave their complex. They are not really friendly but show themselves nice. I did a big mistake with trusting these people. I paid off in full with them at the very last day but unfortunately they made my credit ruin only for a little money that they think I owe them. This complex makes you depressed. Stay away from them

I would not wish Living at NorthStar on my worst enemy

I can only tell you about what happened to me personally. Putting names on those individuals when they no longer work there has no relative meaning any longer. Those people are gone because I believe corporate realized those individuals were a liability to their business. However, Corporate has not ever reached out to me with an apology or compensation for my losses because that would admit that they had a liability to the residents. Nor do I expect to ever see that ever happening. Those people in the power positions will never show their faces in public or admit their culpability in what happened to me personally. Those people work behind closed doors although their work & personal ethics will continue to be passed down to their subordinates. And should those subordinates act in a way to bring attention to their bad acts, they will be gone too.
