Review of Sweetbriar Villa, Springfield, OR

Sweetbriar Villa is excellent. Very caring and conscientious staff. Lovely, intimate environment with an enclosed courtyard that was much appreciated. A fine piano in the small lobby, which was played daily by one of the residents. Other residents always gathered around her to sing. At 25-plus residents, it was the appropriate size for my mother-in-law - not too big, not too small. Situated near a pretty park in easy walking distance. We visited my mother-in-law regularly over a period of nearly two years, and we never found anything amiss. We were always called when staff had concerns and we participated in regular monthly care meetings. A particularly kind volunteer for Sweetbriar Villa, who had retired from care giving, spent many many hours sitting with my mother-in-law when she became less mobile and more confused. Our family always felt assured that my mother-in-law was being well taken care of.

Very responsive and pro active!

Farmington Square has turned out to be a really great place for Mom. She's been there for about a month and fitting in rather nicely. She's in the memory care portion of the community and they've taken her to the assisted living portion often to participate in activities as well as sing in their choir. We all really like the food and the staff is phenomenal. They are all very responsive, personable, and pro active! So far I have no complaints and am very appreciative to have found such a great place!

Five Stars for the La Conner Retirement Inn

My step-mother moved from her beloved home of 50 years in New Jersey to the La Conner Retirement Inn at age 90. Needless to say, she was very apprehensive about the move. After arriving at the Inn and getting settled into her one room apartment, she found living there enjoyable and fulfilling during her 9 year residence. She couldn't have been happier with the pleasant and supportive staff, all the activities that she participated in, and the quaint town of La Conner. She loved her apartment and the cleanliness of the Inn. As family members of a resident at the Inn, we were thankful for all the extra care and attention given to my step-mother. We found the communication with the staff in addressing any issue that came up to be excellent. We highly recommend the La Conner Retirement Inn.

Both of my parents are living happily at LaConner. The caregivers and administrative staff are so attentive, pleasant and professional. My parents started out not needing much assistance. My mother had a extreme (COPD)pneumonia episode, was hospitalized and welcomed back graciously to La Conner on hospice. The very meticulous and caring group of caregivers, care assessment administrator plus staff Nurse with med techs and (hospice) brought my mother from a downhill prognosis to an angelic recovery. My father suffered a heart attack recently has required more assistance and with their caring voices have gotten him to accept their offers. All I can say is. Thank you .......I hope to have this quality of care in my future. SIGN ME UP ....P.S. Beautiful homey, friendly facility and location.

If Dad's happy, we're happy. ..and he is!

My father has been a happy resident there for almost 9 years! He fell in love with LaConner on a visit from California to see us in Washington. He was 93 then and lived Independently in one of the cottages. He is now almost 102 and now needs a great deal of assistance which under Amanda [removed] and her fabulous staff...does a wonderful job of doing so. Ever since she has arrived at the Inn I can rest easy that my father's needs are well taken care of. I believe in being a hands on advocate of our loved ones. She welcomes our involved presence and she and her staff are always accessible thru visits phone calls and texts. I have always highly recommended the Inn to others and will continue to do so.

My Father Couldn't be happier!

My father decided to move up from California to live in the La Conner Retirement Inn. Gizelle (sp?) gave us a tour, showed us two different floor plans available at the time and answered all of our many questions. Dad was ready to be taken care of and have someone else do the cooking :-). It has been almost 2 months and he couldn't be happier that he made the decision to move in. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. They treat each resident like their own family member and bend over backwards to make everyone feel at home. The entire facility is spotless and has no odor. Lots of windows, a full schedule of activities each day with field trips at least once a week. The location couldn't be any better, with a newly built boardwalk to exercise with a walk each morning, many excellent restaurants to take family out to, a beautiful hotel right across the street that gives a discount to family of residents, and the Swinomish Channel is a stone's throw away. We are so grateful for all that La Conner Retirement Inn provides for my father and all of the residents.

Couldn't be happier!

Beautiful setting with a very skilled and caring staff. We couldn't be more happy with La Conner Retirement Inn. We recently helped my parents move so they could be closer to us and get a bit of help with meals, etc. while still maintaining as much independence as they can. The staff there has been nothing short of wonderful in making what can be a difficult and stressful time go very smooth. I highly recommend La Conner Retirement Inn!

I have a family member living here for more than a year now. Everything about this place is positive. The staff members are friendly, caring, and very helpful. The service is excellent and the price is reasonable. The place is very inviting and it really feels like home. My family member enjoys living here and speaks fondly of his new home. I would highly recommend La Conner Retirement center for your loved ones.

sweetbriar is the 4th facility i've lived in since March 2015 due to multiple surgeries . it is by far the most pleasant and caring nof all. My wife and daughter found sweetbriar and signed me up for the next vacancy. i agreed sight unseen and it was the best thing to result from the surgeries Sweetbriar is the closest thing to being home that i've experienced. I have a single room, comfyand roomy. THE CAREGIVERS ARE THE MOST CARING i'VE HAD ANYWHERE. I DON'T THINK i could find a better place to live.

This facility will be a calm and steady ship for any storm you are weathering.

This facility has the absolute best employees I have ever worked with. Two weeks ago my 75 yr old Mom died suddenly leaving behind my step-dad, who is 82, blind, has dementia, fragile, a fall risk and needs major bathroom help. I was devastated and had no idea what to do, when I called the executive director, Missy Kirkland, she was a calming ship in my storm of chaos. She helped me get an interview the very next day, and then the day after that the physical assessor came right over and made my step-dad and I so completely comfortable we knew this was the place for us. We moved my step-dad in two days letter. Missy helped me with the financial, the Dr's orders, really, I would have been lost with out her. THEN when we arrived, later than we wanted, tired, overwhelmed, the staff stepped right in, Christian, Victoria, Laurie, they held our hands literally, let us cry, helped with all the set up, then they texted me every day for a week afterwards to let me know how it was going. I'm still getting weekly reports. THIS is the best place because the staff is of the best people God put on this earth.

mother is stronger now than she ever was before

Farmington Square at Gresham is great. My mother spends the majority of the time griping that the food is horrible and griping about the help. My mother does have dementia and is very negative. I have not seen anything that bothers me myself. I do think the food could be better. In terms of the staff I have been exceptionally pleased with them. They are very caring and loving individuals. One day they did let mom get a cab and get money out of her bank. In the state of Oregon they have certain rights but I think the staff need to come up with more ways to detour the residents. I will say for what I'm paying she should be eating filet minion every night. One thing I can say is my mother is stronger now than she ever was before she got to this facility.

Great location

The place is clean and well tended; the apartments are thoughtfully designed with adequate storage. Being located in the scenic town of La Conner is a big plus as everything from grocery store to post office, art museum and galleries, lots of shopping and good restaurants are all in walking distance. The staff is conscientious, friendly and impressively non-patronizing. As the daughter of a longtime resident, I can't speak highly enough of the current management.

The Activities are Amazing

The activities are client-driven, rather than everyone just playing Bingo. People come together and say they want a book club and do that, or get a pool table for the guys. They are just very resident-driven. The activities director is fantastic.
