Trailhead Community

The seniors moving in need to understand this place was designed with a priority for the IDD community. They are here to Shepherd in a sense. I call us shepherding seniors. Not all the seniors here understood that upon their move-in and have not been as happy. But when they realize they're actually here for a very important purpose they seem to adjust. But a lot of these senior independent places are catered to them and have all kinds of resources, for a price$$$, more activities, van rides to more activities, concerts with them in mind, etc. etc. etc. Here it's all catered to the younger set who have intellectual disabilities and therefore they're even younger than their age. But if people can see that they are here to serve and not to be served they will be fine and find purpose. No doubt over time there will be more specifically tailored places and things to do for seniors but now it's all things seniors fine to do on their own. The challenge is transportation because of finances and few drivers but people have come together and met at restaurants by Uber etc.
