Excellent, Caring Staff

My first impression: The Woods has friendly staff who work together to create a sweet family experience. Staff pitches in to help one another honor the residents. Heartwarming. The vibe throughout is friendly, happy and upbeat. Gorgeous light filled spaces. Modern, pleasant, inviting, well maintained gathering areas throughout. Easy, one level living set in a quiet, lovely green space. Private patios with exterior entries create an easy connection with the outdoors. The maintenance supervisor, [name removed] will hang your personal window treatments for you. Are you kidding me? Along with keeping the building and grounds in excellent shape. Cute as a Button hair salon! Delicious dining experience with impressive restaurant style table service. [name removed] and his staff outdo themselves to provide quality food service. Physical Therapy on site encourages self care-- so important to our everyday quality of life. Convenient underground parking. What a beautiful place.

Overall a great place

Would like more activities, especially on weekends. Right now there are none on weekends. They need to get a bus so they can take them on outings. Food. Mom doesn't complain in general but weekends are sandwich types due to no "cook" on weekends.

My experience thus far has been quite interesting. Each day brings on a new experience of learning and living as we talk and visit with the residents and staff. There is always something to learn. I remember the first time I listened to a music program of old songs - "oldies." I was happy to sing along remembering each word. Then as I remembered the words, I could not believe my mother let me sing along to the suggestive songs. But then I became a mother and let me kids sing along to the suggestive songs. I now have time to reflect on my life - good or bad - in a place where I am treated with respect and kindness as I continue to live.

Needs to Train Aides

There were oversights in care of resident. Aides should receive more training. Aides should initial a chart to show they performed important care duties. One shift to the next did not always know what care was provided to the resident. Lack of proper care put resident in hospital. A high level of care was being paid for and the amount of care should have reflected that.

A bad selection for someone with an ostomy

The assisted living places that I had spoke to would not take [name removed] because of his ostomy. The nurse at the Woods said they would take him. I was very hesitant but my family wanted him to be in a place as nice as the Woods. So we hired movers to take our beds & lazy boys (they do not have furniture at the Woods.). and clothes, supplies, towels, utensils for eating or drinking in the room, bedding were moved there. The staff consisted of a nurse & a few young women who were very friendly but seemed very new to assisted living. I still wondered if the Staff was able to care for him. I was visiting [name removed]on [date removed]. He had very bad back pain. The next morning I found that he had been sent to Froedtert & it was questionable if the Wood would take him back. We didn’t know what to do. So we hire movers & moved him out while he was in hospital. His room was cleared. Then I received a bill for Dec. rent because contract stated that I must give 30 days notice before vacating.
