A Place for Mom has scored Bonaventure with 8.4 out of 10 using our proprietary review score based on 227 reviews in the last 2 years. Over all time, Bonaventure has 955 reviews with an average "overall experience" of 3.6 out of 5.
We had an elderly couple in the Lacey center for about 6 months and their care was dismal. Frequently no one would come up to empty his catheter bag, he fell 6 times and was hospitalized each time with staples in his head. The management sells the place like crazy, but the care team is understaffed and under trained. HIPAA privacy violations every day, cross contamination with bloodborne pathogens, no gloves worn, etc... AVOID AT ALL COSTS, AND THE COSTS THERE ARE THROUGH THE ROOF. $13,000/MONTH WAS THE FEE THEY WERE CHARGED.

Many of the Care Givers we met were nice, and it is a very nice facility. However There is only 1 person that we know of that has worked at this location longer than 1 year, and that is the Front Desk receptionist. We moved our Dad OUT of Bonaventure Castle Rock just before the holidays out of frustration of simply wanting better care and getting the services he was paying for. We had several meetings with different Executive Directors, and just when we thought we were getting somewhere that Director would leave and we would have to start all over with the new person. So much turnover should be alarming to anyone considering moving here. His apartment was not cleaned due to "Housekeeping shortage", sheets were not changed on a daily basis as they were requested to. Shower assistance not given as requested. Medicine not given because they hadn't received a Dr's order, however they did not contact any of us to let us know this was needed, so no meds given!? Staff were supposed to encourage him to walk to at least one meal a day, that lasted for a week. One day he left the building by himself and drove across Founders Parkway in his Scooter and we were told he was allowed to leave the building. How is that keeping him in safe care? When the front desk person leaves at 7 p.m. there is no one to get a hold of at this location if we had concerns about our dad (If he was not answering his apartment phone) So many worrisome issues we decided to move him closer to one of our family members. Please do not be fooled, Would NOT recommend Bonaventure of Castle Rock.

i am leaving THIS PLACE. THERE IS NEVER ENOUGH FOOD. WAITSTAFF ROUTINELY SAY "WE'VE RUN OUT" OR THEY JUST EXCLUDE THE REQUESTED ITEM WHEN YOU ARE SERVED. EXECUTIVE BONUSES MUST BE TIED TO REDUCING FOOD BUDGET, EITHER WAY RESIDENTS ARE PAYING FOR FOOD THEY ARE NOT GETTING. TOILET HAS STOPPED UP 14 TIMES SINCE I'VE BEEN HERE A LITTLE OVER TWO MONTHS. BAD.

They increased monthly fees without proper notification since my wife was a wheelchair patient stating she .needing two to assist her in her daily care needs.YET...They dropped her twice requiring sutures on right leg...second fall fractured her hip resulting out of pocket medical charges of $1,400.00 plus ambulance charges, Later I found out that their nursing and therapy credentials where revoked...They lost many of her clothing... They lost her wedding band and a small finger ruby ring....Bathrooms were poorly cleaned....Structure, although plush, was like a penitentiary...Little therapy activity other than a large TV screen. Laundry was poorly structured...Clothes throwen in a heap in closet...Extremely disatisfied....

This facility looks great on first observation, but don't be fooled. The staff has little or no experience caring for our beloved seniors, they are paid at minimum wage and are given little training. The nursing and medical aide assistance is lacking in training and experience as well. The family must be onsite, on a daily basis, to adequately monitor the quality of care that is being administered. Keep looking for a better equipped and more qualified assisted living center. Oswego Place would probably be fine for retirement level senior living.

I moved my parents here after visiting with a new Executive Director that was going to “turn the place around”. I made a horrible mistake! The ED lasted four months, the longest tenure during our short stay. (There were four more before we left!) Staffing is bare bones and they receive little if any training. It is not uncommon to have only one caregiver on the entire Assisted Living floors which included at the time we left 39 individuals. Many of these residents required dressing, bathing and many other adl’s. This is not safe and should be against regulations, if the state of Colorado only had some! The good caregivers don’t stay due to a complete lack of support from management. The food service is a joke with residents frequently waiting over an hour after they order their meal. Activities are basically non-existent. We paid extra for activities reminders and no one came to the room to remind my parents of anything. All care is extra based upon a “careplan” which is unfortunate because the caregivers do not read the careplans. Basically, we paid for services never received! Two medicine mixups occurred during our time there and both could of had dire results. In short, this is the first bad review I have written and I take no pleasure in it, but I would hate for any family or elder to have to go through the upset and worry that we did for the time my folks were at Bonaventure. Please keep looking and go elsewhere!

If you want an unpleasant experience for your loved one, and complete frustration with their administration, then Maple Ridge is for you. My grandfather has been at Maple Ridge for over 4 years, and during that time we've had no less than 5 different administrators, and frustration with everything from medications being dispensed incorrectly, to poor food, to apathetic staff. It got so bad a couple years ago, that the residents took up a petition to deliver to the administrator demanding improvements in staffing and meals. It's too bad, as the location, building, and overall facility itself is great, but it's the overall management that just can't get their act together. If it were not for their location on Whidbey (my grandfather will not move off island) we'd have moved him several years ago.

Bonaventure of Pueblo failed my mom. Mom was in the Memory Care section for 22 months. Things were fine for the first year, not perfect, but any issues were addressed in a timely manner. In April of 2017, we began having issues with mom's care. It became intolerable in October when I discovered more than 20 open sores on her back. No one there had any idea she had them or how she got them. After investigating, I discovered my mom was not showering or changing clothes for weeks and maybe months. No one ever notified us she was not showering or changing clothes. When I asked the staff, including the executive director, I was told my mom was an adult and had the right to not shower or change clothes. This is [removed]. From April to October there was almost a 100% turn over of staff in the memory care section and based on my observations I question if most of the new employees have any training caring for people with dementia. My mom is no longer at the Bonaventure of Pueblo and I would strongly recommend no one place their loved ones at Bonaventure.

My grandfather is a resident there in memory care and from the times I've been there, I'd say they need to have someone inspect how they do things! His meds found on the floor on multiple occasions, bathroom left soiled and disgusting, his clothes not changed/ bedding, and the horrid smell. I'm sure with the many residents they have, these are not the only problems going on there. This is the one on Boone Rd SE. It is not fair to the residents and their families to be treated this way and have nothing resolved after numoruous attempts to contact especially with how much they charge! HORRIBLE

It is a clean facility. But it is not friendly. There are the minimum of care workers. There are no security guards at night. And the food is terrible. The activities are few and are given to unqualified people to administer -if they even show up to conduct the activities! Independent Living renters check out as quickly as they can. My experience before the management changed in the fall of 2016 was more positive but Bonaventure in Colorado Springs is a depressing, badly managed, poorly staffed place. I cannot honestly recommend it to anyone.

My husband was there for 2.5 years. They never followed through with promised service improvements. The administration was very difficult to deal with. The food kept getting worse. Staff turnover was constant. There were never enough aides or techs and they were poorly trained. The outside and indoors looked beautiful, but underneath the shell- yuk. I finally decided that enough was enough and brought him home.

My sister and I were excited to have a lovely location for our 94 year old, recently widowed mom to live; however, as soon as we moved her into Oswego Place, our excitement changed to disappointment, irritation and disbelief. If Bonaventure's service is indicative of "retirement perfected" as it says on their website, then they have no idea how to meet the needs of their clientele. It took us about 2 months to get a nameplate for Mom's apartment and that was after we asked numerous times for it. Although our mom was supposed to get showers twice a week, it took them several weeks of hit & miss to get them scheduled. Caregivers are supposed to check in on the residents frequently - that doesn't happen consistently. Activities are minimal and it's not unusual for them to cancel an activity. Although activity calendars are supposed to be given out each month, they are late or non-existent. The facility was on lockdown for at least 5 days to deal with Norovirus in July. We were given minimal info & the residents had to stay in their rooms all day, even to eat. Turnover among management is high and trying to deal with the corporate office is impossible. They have never responded to my concerns even though I have contacted them. I'm so sorry for anyone who lives here, especially if they don't have someone advocating for them on a daily basis.

Do not move yourself or a loved one into Bonaventure Colorado Springs. We moved our parents in at the beginning of 2016 and we just moved them out at the end of May 2016. The 5 months in between was a nightmare both for our parents and for us. The root of the problems at Bonaventure is management, or should I say the lack of management. In the 5 months that my parents lived there, there was literally 90%+ turn over in management and staff. When we were meeting with the Executive Director prior to move in she assured us that there was a nurse on staff. After move-in we discovered there wasn't a nurse on staff. The ED had flat out lied to us. They hired a nurse about 6 weeks in, but she left after one month. Virtually all of the caregivers quit during the time of my parent's stay. One day a girl showed up and wanted my parents to buy prescriptions, even though they get their prescriptions through their insurance (they declined to accept the drugs). A couple of weeks later, my parents got a $500 bill for the drugs. The ED, said she would take care of it. A month later, the same thing happened and their bill was now up to $1000. My parents never gave Bonaventure permission to buy their prescriptions. I wonder what happened to the drugs my parents declined to accept? There was no check-in process when my parents moved in. No handbook, no interview, no staff welcome. We never got exterior keys or remote entries. We came home one night at 7:45 PM to find all the doors locked, no one on staff was there, and we had no keys or remotes to get in. The food is terrible, and turnover amongst the kitchen staff is atrocious. Expect to wait 2 hours to finish dinner, and expect to get cold, poorly prepared food. The kitchen routinely ran of of food and substituted reheated frozen food. One day there was a fire alarm, and several residents got stuck in the elevator. No staff member knew what to do. It took way too long for someone to get the fire department to let the poor, scared elderly residents out of the elevator. One of the residents had a stroke and no one on staff knew what to do. After an unacceptable delay someone called 911. The 5 months that my 80 year old parents were there was so stressful that they both suffered health problems. Amongst management, there is a pervasive atmosphere of lying, backstabbing, and CYA. The morale amongst the staff is very low. The only person who did an outstanding job was the sales guy who schmoozed us with delicious meals in the dining room (last one my parents ever had there), gifts and promises. We moved my parents into a nearby competing facility 5 days ago and the change has been like night and day. For the first time in 5 months, I feel comfortable knowing my parents are in a safe, caring facility. I implore you that if you're considering Bonaventure, ask them hard questions. Ask them about turnover. Ask them about residents leaving. Ask them about qualified staff. But don't take their word for it. They WILL lie to you. Ask to speak with residents. Ask residents about how many people leave after only a short time there. I've truly never seen a more poorly managed business in my entire life. When your loved ones should be facing the end of their lives in peace, serenity and comfort, Bonaventure delivers stress, uncertainty and incompetence.

My mother has been there for a month or so. In that time, they have misplaced and not updated changes in her care plan three times. Had we not been there last night, we would not have realized she wasn't getting her evening tray. My mother has failed to thrive and progressively gotten worse since her admittance there. The sales manager was so nice before we moved her in. Now does not even acknowledge our presence. When asking my mother if she'd had dinner, the same woman hissed at me as she was walking by, that she had eaten. No hello. No acknowledgment. No anything. We feel we have made the worst decision placing her there. She is now in hospice and thus, will be receiving better care. My mother is not a numbers game, or a sales notch. She is our precious family member. We would move her, but we do not want to stress her anymore.

Two of my sisters and I visited this location. The location is great, and the facility is clean. The tour was not the best. We sat down to lunch first. We had the baked salmon with asparagus. First of all they were out of asparagus and the salmon was really dry. Which was okay because we did arrive to lunch late. The sales Rep was nice and personable but we found it odd that she did not ask anything about our mom. Every other place we went to knew her information and asked many questions. In fact I was looking forward to sharing the info with them so that we could focus our tour around her needs. I remember when I talked to her on the phone and she could not find the info. I thought no worries its a busy day for her. The things we did tell her went to the waste side because our sale rep was more interested in telling us about her and her issues which near the end of the tour I was getting a little irritated with. When asked a question she would justify her answers by telling us how terrible the other retirement centers were. I understand sharing the differences in your homes vs theirs but she was going a little too far. I think I may have asked if she had anything nice to say about them. I was pretty surprised when I asked her the price of the two bedrooms and she said they were pricey. I wasn’t sure if she was just assuming it would be pricey for my mom or just giving us her opinion. Even so as a sales rep why would you tell someone this. In addition she was not able to answer any questions about pricing, the time breakfast was served. She said things changed so much that she couldn’t keep up with it. Which was not a good feeling at all. If she could not answer a question she would tell us we would need to ask Nerissa these questions instead of getting the info for us. She talked more about herself and her attitude is not the best. She truly had something negative to say about every place we mentioned. No other community that we’ve visited did this. When we asked for comparison they would share why they were the better choice. I had to keep redirecting her to focus on the tour and why we were there. We also noted that she not once greeted the residents in the facility even when they walked by or came over to the table. I thought this to be odd. This is the type of interaction I would expect at a retirement home that has the sense of community and care she said they had. By the time we had an opportunity to talk with Nerrissa to get our questions answered we had all already decided that it was not a place for our mom. I’m truly hoping this was just an off day for Joy. I’m sure she is a wonderful person and has something great to offer but we just didn’t get it.

Since new Management came in the place ha really lost it's "WOW". All the wonderful, great staff that was so pleasant and happy were driven out, the place is quiet and deserted. No one is out and about anymore, everyone stays in their rooms. The Transportation is gone, the bands, chef prepared meals, dancing and fun outings are all gone. Please bring back what we all loved about Riverton. It's not a place I like to call home anymore.

Gibson creek was a nightmare. Document everything as they will "not remember" or staff attrition will conveniently disrupt any continuity for requests made prior to the transition. Just watch closely, should you decide to move your loved one here - particularly if they have higher level needs. Buyer beware is the best way to sum it up....
