Avendelle Assisted Living

The most important feedback I can provide is to distinguish between the environment at this house versus a larger facility. The care and attention at the house was very important to me because my mother needed and benefited from the small and intimate environment of the house. It was almost like one on one individual care. Conversely, when she first needed assisted living the larger, more social and activity oriented facilities offered her a good environment to build relationships with other members. So this is the insight I would offer to others. They both provided good experiences with different strengths.

I really like the fact that it's a small home-type setting. Staff and everyone were easy to work with and I'd highly recommend that you take a look and consider them.

The community is very neat and clean and I would recommend this community to others.

During the month our loved one was there, he was very well taken care of. We absolutely loved the people that were there and overall our family was very happy.

My sister took a tour of the community and she thought it was a nice little place. The tour guide was courteous with her and gave her a tour all around the community like the bedrooms, dinning room and activities center. The only thing that she didn't like was that there were not many activities offered. The place was clean and had a good layout to it.

This community was great to my loved one. He was treated like family and the resident were nice too. We were pleased with the level of care. They did their best to adapt to his needs and understand him more. I like that they are caring and we are overall pleased with the community. I would definitely use them again

My loved one has only been here a short time so it's hard to say how things will work out long term, but so far they've done a good job. The staff is friendly and professional, and they've done a good job looking after my loved one so far.

I toured this community when I was looking into care options for a loved one. This was a smaller group home type setting, and I thought everything here looked very nice. The facility itself was clean and well kept, and the staff all seemed very friendly and caring. Unfortunately I don't think the level of care would have been appropriate for my loved one, he had movement issues they would have had difficulty assisting him with.

Things seem to be going well at The Haven so far. It's a good location, a nice looking facility, and the staff are all very friendly and caring. My loved one seems much better taken care of than at her previous facility, the caregivers seem much more reliable.

This is a nice, smaller facility, and the ratio of staff to residents is very good. They keep 6 patients here, and during the day there are 2 CNAs or medtechs on duty, and 1 at night. The residents here get a lot more individual attention than they would at a larger community where the ratio can be 8 to 1 or higher. The caregivers are friendly and professional, and they keep the residents cared for and comfortable.

The staff are very friendly at Avendell Assisted Living. This facility was able to provide wound care well when we needed it. They have also been very responsive. Due to the shutdown, we were unable to get some of the full support we needed. One incident we had was my friend was on a sleeping medication and we noticed she was running through it very fast. I contacted the supervisor and they discovered one of the staff members was giving her too much medication. We have had not problem since, the supervisor has been attentive with training of overnight staff. There are positives and negatives, but overall they have done well.

Really liked the owner. We had a lot in common as he is a Vietnamese refugee and I served in his country. It is a house in a residential area. Lots of cars on the lot. Inside was "ok" and staff was very friendly. Patients that I saw were in later stages of dementia so not a lot of activity.

In general I think they do a good job at The Haven at Waterford Landing, in terms of the cleanliness of the facility and the care offered. It's a small community, and the caregivers seem friendly. I'd feel a little more comfortable if they had a nurse on staff. My biggest complaint would be that I think the food service could be better organized, as the food is often cold by the time it gets to our loved one.

My first hand experience is not a very. Good one. Residents seem to sit all day. Smells of urine. Resident not changed or toileted properly resulting in UTI infections sores. Some staff not properly trained and uniformed about giving medications. Some elderly residents seem to be over medicated as well. Saw one lady that had wet through her pants into wheel chair still sitting in wheel chair as staff passed her by. Food and supplies runs out staff eats food as well you pay for. Management wont buy more until 1st of next month..go figure as Rent fees are do.some residents appearance and grooming are not met. Company more for the big bucks more so residents. Even some have had rodents,big spiders another facility reeked of decon poison because of the mice problem. Dosent follow menu guides as well. Look elsewhere and thoroughly before placing your loved one and High cost into Avendelle assisted living family homes. Staff over worked under paid. You're better seeking a private sitter to come in home n take care of your elderly Mom, Dad inlaw etc. Better care half price. Of course they sell themselves well to get your money..after that..hmmm. Also some need nursing home care..which assist homes are not equipped for.but they wont send them also donot like to send them out to hospital or rehab if needed..they loose money..smh

Overall service was poor, clothing got lost and exchanged, hearing aids and glasses got stolen. Lots of bruising and cuts, gave mom morphine when they where not supposed to. Did not give other meds properly. This was issue with all patients. They kept ordering meds after hospice took over as well as after she passed away.

This one is over the top pricey. Private home w/rooms base $5500 per person. Really? Crazy prices in the Triangle... So, NO.

My mother lived at this facility for over a year and although it is picture perfect looking, it falls short in providing a caring, dignified environment. Avendelle costs over 8K a month, yet the food, staff, and activities provided do not reflect the high-cost. - POOR FOOD AND SMALL PORTIONS Avendelle's model does not include professional food service instead, the low-paid staff is expected to cook on top of there other duties. This has extremely poor results, food is over-cooked, unidentifiable, and repetitious. Sandwiches are served with one slice of 'luncheon meat' and the staff has stated that the permitted portion size when chips are served is three chips! Also on several occasions, the house ran out of milk before the end of the month. No new milk was provided until the new month's groceries arrive. - CONSTANT STAFF TURN-OVER We've been told that Avendelle pays less than other providers...and it shows in the constant staff turn-over. There were times when managers were working multiple shifts because staff simply did not show up or quit mid-shift. Four months before Mom moved, a new director was put in place to fix the many problems - alas, we saw no improvements and unfortunately, things appeared to be getting worse! - LACK OF ACTIVITIES Avendelle's activity calendar is rarely followed. Residents usually set in front of the television for most of the day and they are shuffled off to bed soon after dinner ends - at 5:30. Don't be wooed by Avendelle Maynard's new home-feel and tasteful decorating - in this case, beauty is only skin deep. Note: This review covers our experience from 2018 to 2019.

The owner is wonferful, but if you want your family taken care of around the clock , this is NOT a good facility. I was highly impressed initially, but as time went on , I started observing how staff treated these patients when family wasn't around. I assure you, what you see is not what you get, my relative was injuted here. She could walk, feed herslf and use the bathroom on her own. She broke her hip in 2 places while in this facility, and now has 3 metal rods in her hip. She is 81, can no longer walk, feed herself or use the restroom, and no one knows what happened. At least that's thier story for now. They love to keep the patients medicated so they don't bother them. They have a few good staff, put 5 fingers up, and you will have a few left if looking for good staff. Again, the owner is wonderful, he really cares about the patients. He is not there 24 hours a day. Take your family members here, i suggest you have someone there all the time.
